I was housed at Meadow Lake Apartments in Downingtown,Pa.They were a step above the projects. I was there for nine months. My apt had been freshly painted and carpeted before I moved in,had a washer and dryer in the apt.The furniture was standard rental. The downside, it was noisy for a day sleeper, renovations across the complesx and in my building too,maintenence slow to do repairs, usually took two calls from me and a third from my housing manager.I did not feel safe coming in late at night,no security, lights frequently burned out. I had to refuse 3p-3a shifts due to this.Also inadequate parking spaces.
You ask why I stayed there,they were the only complex to accept pets. Would not reccommend. Jeanie

I love Oak Park Apartments where I am housed. It is absolutely the best you can ask for. New appliances with brand new carpeting. The place I am in is a show place where I see the mountains range from my living room and beautiful landscaping all around. They even let you bbq from your balcony which is a nice thing.

Stonle Ridge Apt in Bullhead City, AZ is very well maintained, clean, quiet and 10 minutes from WARMC.

We're stating at Neptune Court Apts in Alameda, Ca. (bay area) and we love it. It's a 1920's spanish villa type complex. Managers are on top of things and its very clean and quiet. There's also a beach 1/2 block away. So we'd recommend it to anyone. Jane.

I'm easy going, however, I prefer you leave your shoes by the door & not wear them in the house (I will provide you slippers)

I am currently on assignment in Johnson City, Tn. However, housing is in Kingsport, Tn 24 miles from hospital. I am at Crosscreek Apartments on John B. Dennis Hwy. and it is great. It is like a small community in itself. Pool, hottub, tennis court, club house, playground and pet friendly. I will send pictures as soon as I can download them.

I have been at San Leandro Racquet Club since 6/16 in San Leandro, CA...East Bay area. Enjoy my job very much but was inexperienced traveler when i came here. Asked for upstairs apt. ...got downstairs...no A/C! even tho it's close to hospital and inside of apts are ok...we are not happy with it. Not my company's fault. They thought I had downstairs and no one knew til I got here that it's upstairs, no elevator and also upstairs loft bedroom. Very noisy, you can hear BART, all weed eaters, maintenance workers. Somebody had their tires slashed in front of my apt. and a car was stolen from parking lot. They do take pets. I should have put my foot down and never gone up those stairs...have to schlep laundry, groceries everything. I was ignorant..should have called my recruiter. Also apparently part of these apts have been designated Section 8. Anybody coming to East Bay area, remember there are several bedroom communities of Oakland that are within decent driving distance of any hospitals in San Leandro or Berkeley. There is Alameda, Pleasanton, Castro Valley, Berkeley, Hayward.
Don't come to the racquet club if you want quite and privacy and sleep during day....and no a/c!

Try Union City.. Try Extended Stay.. Quiet.. Elevator. Heck g/f this is my second THIRD floor apt without elevator..And I'm old and there is no WE here..lolll

I am currently living at Meadowlake Apts in Downingtown, PA. My bedroom overlooks the swimming pool which for an apt complex this size is rarely overcrowded and noisy. It is a large complex and location within could be the difference. I have had neighbors who are nurses and others who work in healthcare field so perhaps I have lucked out. This complex is now under new management and I have seen positive changes even in the year I've been here. I am from this area and know what this complex was years ago - a drug haven!!!! I do like having a washer/dryer in the unit. A traveling nurse in my hospital is staying at Thomas Meeting in Exton which is considerably more money but also very very good.

PS - the pics in the travel RN mags look great don't they!!!

About 4 years ago on my first and only travel assignment at Backus Hospital in Norwich, CT. I stayed at Peachtree Apts.
Very nice one bedroom. New appliances, fresh paint, new furnishings. Nice location carved out of the woods in older residential area. Management always responsive. Had a laundry room. No pool or Jacuzzi but over all a very nice place to spend a few months.

While In New Port Richey, Fl I was placed in the apartment complex "Palms at Wyndtree" A very nice, gated complex with pool and exercise room and in apt. W&D. The complex was clean, quiet and pet friendly. I met many other travel nurses there from a variety of companies. It was 7 miles from CH in NPR, close to anything you wanted. Well lighted and I felt safe there. My rent was handled by my company, but I know a 1 bedroom was 880.00/mo Im hoping I will get to stay there next winter.

Grand Rapids, Mi Stayed at River Oaks Apts. Nice apts W/D, pool, hot tub, sauna, work out room, pet friendly, on-site fax, computers, package service. Clean and quiet. Would stay again.

RedRock Villa, Phoenix Arizona--wonderful complex, worst part of Phoenix. For a single woman, it is pretty scary. Gated community with the gates never closed, one is broke off in the back of the complex. My apartment is very nice, except it is corporate housing (very expensive) and I have to pay my own utilities. I will also be responsible for balance due at the end of the contract--something that was not disclosed up starting with this company.

Hi, I'm on assignment in Phoenix, AZ. Great houseing at the Haritage 1100 East Osborn Phoenix, AZ 85014. They have 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units with W/D in the apt open floor plans balcony very well maintained and comfortable. Safe community. Though this is down town Phoenix it also places you very close to most the hospitals just miles from at least 5 including Arizona Heart and AZ Childrens the VA center and Phoenix Indian. Gated community pool and workout room, and assigned parking spaces. If your looking at what is most important about a housing unit I rank safty as number one of course but having the washer dry in the apt is a second in my book.

I've been here all summer extended my contract till winter 'cause it's nice here and I LOVE my housing. I'm living in a house built in the late 1800's. I have the entire upper floor and another travel nurse lives below me (separate entries). Tastefully decorated including w/d. There are pics of it mixed in my on-line photo album:

Austin Texas, Montery Oaks Apts, really BIG one bedroom apartments, gated really nice community with lots of amenities. Would recomend to anyone.... no grills though.

I recently did a travel assignment in San Clemente California. I was place in an apartment complex approximately 5 miles from My hospital. This complex was named Pacific POint. My agency which was Nightingale, was able to place me in a complex called Pinnacle at Talegea, which was beautiful.
Pinnacle was a gated clean, new community with 2 pools, 2 hottubs, 2 gyms, garages. I did have to pay a slight month apartment fee but it was well worth the money.
I had a very nice assignment at San Cemente Hospital, and I enjoyed my nice appartment.

I traveled to Seattle, WA and was housed at Summit at Madison Park. Wonderful! New carpet, newly painted, granite countertops, black appliances, washer/drying in apartment, well lit, colorful painted interior halls/doors, fitness room, great rooftop, attentive staff, and very nice deck. Downstairs is Starbucks and the major grocery store Safeway. 5 minutes from the large hospital conglomerate Swedish Medical Center. Would highly recommend it. The pictures online are accurate!

Travel nurse solutions, put me in the greatest apartments or condos it depends on where I go. I always have all my needs and more. They provide everything or the money to buy. If it is an 8 week contract I have stayed at the Candlewood extended stay which is great no noise even if I sleep during the day. I've never been told that the rent hasn't been paid and I always get paid too on time. I've been traveling for 4 years and I don't see stopping anytime soon. Good Luck. Check out Ginger at TNS, tell her Terri sent you, she talks to me about 4 times a week. She has never disappointed me as a recruiter.

Hi there. I am not a travel nurse. Although I have been working 90 miles away from home and staying at one of the other nurses homes while doing my shifts 3 nights a week then driving home. It has been a great experience.

The reason though I am writing is because I am trying to find out how I can make my vacation home (In South Lake Tahoe, Ca.) marketable for travel nursing assignments. Our vacation home is a 2 story 3 bdrm, fully furnished 1956 house that has many upgrades, beautifully decorated in Black bear decor-very warm and inviting, and only 2 blocks from the lake with beach/boat access and ski places 10 min. up the street (Barton Memorial is 5 min. up the street).

Do I contact EACH registry/travel company?????:confused:
Is there a main place to advertise to these travel companies???:rolleyes:
Should I call the local hospital?:cool:

My husband and I have worked really hard to keep this place up and am looking for a better way without turning it into a regular rental (my husband and I would like to move into it in the years to come:)). I know a lot of travel nurses and I would rent to them in an instant. They are dedicated hard workers and very caring individuals.

I am in downtown LA working at Kaiser. I live in The Piero. VERY nice place. The one bedroom is roughly 1100 square feet. The in house gym is amazing and the concierge service is a godsend for someone new to the area. (Where to get your haircut or where to go for a massage!!) I love it here so much. If I could afford the rent I would live out here!!! Log onto thepiero.com for all the pictures. There are quite a few travelers that live in the same building.

Ok, so in the last year, here is where I have stayed (all have been nice, have pools, & workout rooms:

Naples, FL: Bermuda Island- Nice place, centrally located, newly remodeled, but kind of noisy.

I in return made it very clear to my company that I wanted SAFE housing, even if it was a few extra minutes driving time. Anyone had assignments in Baltimore? and if so where did you stay? how did you like it? did you feel safe?

There are 2 places in Goldsboro, North Carolina that are very nice for Travel Nurse Housing. They are http://www.plumtreegardens.com/
which is also a Bed & Breakfast. They do not allow pets.

The other is operated by a businessman who runs www.Renta-Spouse.com (Home Improvements) he has both, apartments AND Rooms.

Both are in Historic Houses in Beautiful Downtown Goldsboro, NC
"Top Ten City" ...Money Magazine 1993. Both have Travel Nurses at this time working at Cherry Hospital.

I can tell you where is good in west los angeles area! I also stayed in some great apartments in north carolina, northern cali, arizona & colorado! I am thinking about extended stay for next assignment-only 4 weeks long. Many co-workers have had luck on craigslist for temp housing also!

I stayed there on assignment as well, it's was a nice place. Older but nice with very nice agents.

Those traveling to the Bronx area of NY:
White Plains Hyatt is a very nice place...but 24 miles from the Bronx...maybe not worth the commute.
Residence Inn in Yonkers is closer, but in the middle of nowhere. Housekeeping is med to poor. Food is awful.
New Rochelle Residence Inn is in a great location, and all good reviews from all nurses I spoke with who stayed there.
