Hi im a uk nurse and midwife new to houston

Hi has anyone made the transition from working as a nurse and or midwife in the U.K to working in Texas, i am waiting for the paperwork to go through and then i need to sit the nclex. Any advice about the exam.
I am also shocked about the medical insurance stuff here so far, feels like a money making scam to me. Are people over treated and over investigated by doctors just because of the money?
I am thinking of working in a state hospital , is it more moral there?

I am also a British Midwife living in Houston - however i am not practising as a midwife. I practised as a midwife for 14 years in the UK prior to coming to houston.
We have lived in Houston now for about 6 years and we love it - apart from the Medical Issues ! I think you are correct - over prescribing and major insurance premiums - where is the choice here?

It is extremely different here and "Midwifery" is not viewed as the "norm" - woman see "Ob-Gyn's" - what is one of them i asked myself when i arrived

Well hope all goes well and let me know how you are doing
