    Question Stress in ICU/ER

Do you think hospitals should have a support system in place for staff who are feeling the stress of their jobs?

    Re: Stress in ICU/ER

Yes. Look up Vanderbilt University Medical Center. I found out during some research for a paper during school (RN to BSN program) that they have a pretty neat EAP there....they actually come to the floor where the nurse is, not the other way around! They have a lower turnover rate, as well! So, yes- I think ALL nursing staff should have continual emotional support and it should be in the organizational culture to promote mental and emotional wellness!!!!!!!!!!! It is the main reason we are all getting the hell out!
