    Re: treating borderline personality disorder

We try not to make eye contact and ignore on my unit. That never works for long though. My God do we get some real freak shows here in Chicago. I often just go on auto pilot and nod, try not to give them any feedback. I'm not going to cure them or stop their behavior. I think as long as their behaviors don't impact other patients, then, go right ahead. I've challenged the arguments and threats, it just causes me greif and them satisfaction for getting my dander up. Nonchalant is the way baby.

marcados do you know of a way to treat borderline other than what is(n't) used for treatment now? our administrator at the facility i work told our borderline resident you go to the hospital one more time and i'm kicking you out. that seemed to work. plus i refuse to let her in the nurse station unless she has a medical problem. marcados do you think our system or culture creates or enables borderline? i do.
in order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't mearly try to train him to be semi-human. the point is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly dog. :o

actually i use a sense of humor to successfully deal with borderlines. a sense of humor brings lightness to a made up dramatic situation.

There are treatments out there for BPD.
Marsha Lenaham (sp) came up with DBT.

I use a lot of behavoir mod. So many request cards per shift. Everytime there is "can we talk?" or am "I going to die on Sunday?" a request card is given up.

And I use humor, and a broken record tech.:luck:
