Hi Everyone!
I am getting ready to start travel nursing with my friend, we are both labor nurses. We have been talking extensively with Travel Nurse Solutions and RN Network. I would like to hear any feedback and/or advice that anyone has regarding these companies; reputation, pay, benefits etc. We are looking at AZ, CA or LA right now. Thanks in advance for any input

I am getting ready to leave for my very first travel assignment ever & will be going with RN Network. My recruiter, Kimberley Gaines has been extremely helpful in getting me all set to go. Because I am a first-time traveler, I had tons of questions & was paranoid/nervous about everything. She has been very patient with me and has been wonderful in answering all my questions. RN Network has free health insurance (with no deductibles!), free private housing, travel & license reimbursement, and has TONS of assignments all over the country. If you would like, I can give you her phone #- PM me
I have been with RN Network for six years, with the same recruiter, Michelle Kluger. I never have had any real problems with them.
Hey travellers, How's everybody? I work for clinical one, I am on assignment in CA. I hate the job I'm in and have a question for any experienced traveler. The contract I signed for 36 hour a pay is not being honored by the hospital, they want 36 and 48 hour work weeks, clinical one wants to appease the hospital, I don't want to work more than the 36 hours a week I contracted for, and I'm feeling shafted. I also HATE this assignment, I feel my license is at risk at times there. I want to leave. I'm told I will be sued for the housing. Any thoughts, or advise? Thanks!
If your contract states 36 hours per week, then they can't force you to work extra, no exceptions. They have to honor your contract, unless the hospital chooses to cancel, which, if they do, you should not be held financially responsible.
RN network rocks. my recruiter, beth volpe, is awesome. i had a travel partner a few months ago and the agency she went with was disorganized and couldnt promise her that she would actually get work.
My husband has been working with TNS and in addition to really liking his recruiter, the benefits are fabulous (blue cross/blue shield of Alabama), so I guess it depends on what part of the country you live in. We live in MS and my husband drives the 60 miles to work and pockets the very generous stipend, decent pay and great medical benefits! His recruiter is Jill and she has really impressed us both with how quickly she responds to his questions. If there is discrepancy on his time card, she calls him and lets him know, he doesn't get blind sided by a short check. One time she made a mistake and she promptly admitted it. She is very honest and we like her a lot. If TNS has another job when this contract is up, he will definitely be signing up with TNS again. The amount we pay for insurance is about 120 per week, which might seem high to some people, but it covers us both and we have multiple expensive medications, so even at 120 per week, in our case it's a god send. Doctor co-pays are like 25 bucks, most you'd have to pay to have surgery is a few hundred (like 200) dollars out of pocket, no deductibles whatsoever. And you get it on day ONE. Pharmacy benefits are 10/25/35 co-pay, considering that ONE of my meds cost 450 per month, that's a great deal.
Good luck whatever your decision is!
Amanda,
You seem to like rn network;are they paying well?i m ready to take an assignment in a hospital in dallas on night in trauma icu. are you aware of wages in the area? have you heard about Parkland Health and Hospital system?
Hi.
I am looking to travel in the DFW area. If anyone have any info about Parkland or St. Paul please email and let me know. I would love some more info. I work med-surg.
I've never traveled with RN Network but have traveled with TNS. I would never travel with TNS again because of an assignment where they put me in bad housing and wouldn't let it be changed regardless of how bad it was. I also don't like how they do that deduction of $15.00 per hour for any missed hours of work. I don't believe traveling is all it is cracked up to be. There is no vacation or sick time accrual with TNS as there are with some companies and further their BC of Alabama insurance is expensive and doesn't cover some meds, just not worth the risk of going with TNS.:33:
DO NOT TRAVEL WITH RN NETWORK AKA AMERICAN MOBILE!!!!!!! American Mobile owns many and still buying up more!!! I worked for one of the companies they bought. It was a wonderful company that treated the nurses very well but changed completely when RN Network bought them! They treat you as a number!! Pay is horrible and don't count on much contact with the recruiter, you won't get it!! I have been traveling since 1990. I am now with TNS and I must admit, they treat you much better than the averae and the pay rate they offer makes RN Network and all the other AM companies look pathetic!! I would recommend Jacque as a recruiter. I have never had a problem in talking to him when I needed to. GOOD LUCK!!

American Mobile & RN Network are NOT owned by the same company...
American Mobile is owned by AMN Healthcare, which also owns:
Nurses Rx
Preferred Healthcare
O'Grady Peyton
Medical Express
American Mobile
Nurse Choice
In Demand
Med Travelers
Rx Pro Health
RN Demand
RN Network is owned by CHG healthcare. CHG operates the following companies:
RN Network (travel nursing)
CompHealth (locum tenens physicians)
Weatherby Locums (locum tenens physicians)
Destination Healthcare (travel PT & OT)
Foundation Medical Staffing (dialysis travel)
AHR Pharmacy Solutions (travel/temp pharmacy staff)
The two companies are not affiliated in any way with each other....
I stand corrected!!!!!! I meant NURSES RX!!!!!!!!!!!
Ive worked with RN Network for a couple years and love them! The recruiters there are the best and I loved my benefits. My only complaint is at times they dont have as many contracts as some of the bigger companies, like AMN or Cross Country.

I trained at Parkland. It was trauma, trauma, trauma. And 4 hr gallbladders! It's a teaching hospital in the purest sense. It was fun but the staff can be really, really tough. Just bear in mind that it is a county hospital.
It's "partner" Zale had awesome cases but again, the staff is tough. At Zale that includes supervisors but not the managers. They will get their monies worth from you.
Dallas has awesome restaurants! Cheap too.
I wrote about TNS yesterday. I have mixed thoughts. Your recruiter is everything. Their benefits are good. Try to find my posting and maybe that will help.
