Great. BUT union is not way to go. Been there...done that. Unionization ruined our hospital, took our money...and took our Spirit.
Ive been nursing in Texas for well over 20 yrs plus. I think Texas nursing is wonderful. I have never doubted that all that I do to advocate for patient care issues, has always been supported and appreciated by administration. I have never been threatened or even felt threatened or insecure at work. Now could we get better security guards where I am at, that would be nice. I have heard terrible stories about "Safe Harbour" But from what I have seen, those are really isolated incidents with other issues there also.
I make good money here. I have raised my 7 kids. I feel secure in my work. They work me appropiately. Yes the ER gets busy, but thats the life in ER. It is what we do, and most of us love it. Those that dont become school nurses or something.
Now I am not a pro union type. But I am not against them, I think they are overinflated. I see unions as promoters of mass mediocrity. I would like to say one thing to all pro unionists. Remember a "Scab" protect and promotes the healing of a wound. And should always be admired.
Will Texas ever really unionize its hospitals, I really do not see that happening.
