The sad part is you can still be arrested in NM on Federal charges. And besides marijuana comes in pill form so why take the chance of being arrested and submitting others to your second hand smoke which could kill them i.e. your children or spouse.

if it comes in a pill and it works then go for it I wouldn't want anyone "innocent" exposed but if someone is terminal I think they should be able to use...but we do let people smoke around their kids and even in resturaunts (still can do that in this area) and the "smoking area" is just on the other side of a 1/2 wall and the smoke knows not to come across that you know :)
My hospital still has an employee smoking area and and area patients go pushing their IV poles (I work in tobacco country) it'll never go away. There was just a city law about smoking in resturaunts but it didn't last too long being that the mayor and 1/2 the city council smoke it's gone back to the owners choice.

Bangor Maine just passed a law that no one can smoke in a car when there are children present. And it stuck.

Maine is totally smoke free and funny NM just went that way too. Many bars and restaurants claimed they would lose business but after a few short months smoke free their business actually increased. They are in favor of it now.

Can we please stay with the thread? This is regarding the medicinal use of marijuana, NOT a debate about smoking.

Thank you.

And how is this medicinal use of marijuana achieved.

My God can you discuss the merits without harrassing the members here. :smoking2: :smoking2: :smoking2: :smoking2: :smoking2: :smoking2:

Sorry didn't think it was a debate on smoking but someone had stated something about not exposing innocents to the marijuana smoke I was just saying is it worse the cig smoke? My thoughts as above if it helps them and that's what they need sure but then I'm not the one to get to decide who or for what reason it should be used but I don't think anytime soon in this country it will be in wide spread legal use.

Actually it is worse than cigs. Something like 2 joints equals a pack. I'll look it up again.

Hold down the fort.

how much are those that use for medical reasons exposing those loved ones? how much does it take to help? I know lots of 2 pack a day smokers of the legal cigs. I don't think a heave pot smoke could smoke an equally bad amount....like I said I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon in this country for wide spread medical purposes.

Second hand smoke is still secondhand smoke. Also MJ has 50%-70% more carcinogens per joint than cigs.

1) Not when home-grown

2) Then the government needs to stop using carcinogens to try and wipe the stuff out.

I know that smoking marijuana can greatly reduce the nausea and vomiting in cancer patients allowing them to get the nutrition they need.

Unfortunately, it's a political debate and not a health care debate.

The pill form is MUCH less effective than inhaling it. Sure, second hand smoke is a concern, but if my loved one was dying, on chemo, and constantly nauseated/vomiting, I'm sure something could be worked out.

The latest development in smoking pot involves the use of vaporizers designed to vaporize the THC so it can be inhaled without smoke. The units are hand-held and use electricity to heat the leaves. Most of the other toxins aren't ignited and remain inert. Just Google herbal vaporizer or marijuana vaporizer.

An uncle of mine who is a Cathloic Priest would buy it for my Grandfather who died of lung cancer. Personally, I believe the only reason it is still illegal is because the Rx companies cannot make any money off of it.

the medical benefits of marijuana are vast ,not to mention industrial benefits of hemp. I believe the main reason it's still illegal is because the money pharmaceutical companies ,and petroleum companies would lose.

Unfortunately, it's a political debate and not a health care debate.

In Canada, it's marketed as Cesamet and in addition to an anti-emetic, it's also used in adjunct therapy for chronic pain management.

Well everyone, what is your favorite method of smoking marijuana.

Do you prefer rolled up joints. While traditionally the most common way, but also measured as the least effective way. I read it is only 26 per cent effective in this manner.

Or do you prefer Bongs Bongs get up to 34 per cent effective rate. But they really are so much fun at parties. Very decorative, very imaginative, even very dramatic.

From what I have read, Vaporizers get up to about a 90 percent efficiency rate. Sounds good to me. If you are going to do it, you might as well be efficient about it.

But being an old hippy kind of guy with long hair, tattoos and all. Deep down my favorite way is roll a joint and pass it around. Please do not Bogart the joint please.

Now I do not currently use, not because I disagree with its use. But because of drug testing at work, and the legal problems associated with it. And the right wing Joe McCarthy types of administration and employee health people in their narrow mindedness, who threaten your job.

Now when I turn 65, and become a Walmart Greeter, Then Smoke on. I look forward to retirement. I just need to move out of this Red State of Texas to a more civilized Blue State.

Rock On, Rock Out, Light it Up, Peace Love, and Tee it up in the Short Grass hahahahaha

In the end I really feel this is just a pain killer.

There has been no facts to back up most medical claims.

That being said, if it makes someone feel better, let them have it.
