Has anybody worked at Cape Fear Valley Health System in Fayetteville, NC?
In the ER.
Haven't ever worked there, but I was actually talking to someone today at my new assignment in the ER at Salisbury, NC- he used to work in Fayetteville in the ER, and told me to avoid it at all costs- he said it's a horrible place to work & that the hospital in general is just crappy.
Oh! Boy! That is not what I wanted to hear!! It is supposed to be traveller friendly.
Like I said, never worked there myself, that's just what he said. It was pretty funny that you had posted that, because I had just been talking with him about it that same day- weird! If you do decide to go there, let us all know how it works out.
I'LL post my expeirence. What have the phone interviews been like?

I have never worked there or interviewed with them, I was just relating what I had heard about the hospital from one of my co-workers.
Sorry! I just meant the phone interviews you have had so far. I understand that you have not worked for Cape Fear Med. Center.
As a traveler, most phone interviews I've had have been really short. They spend a lot of time telling me about the hosital & unit, answer my questions (I always ask about floating, being in charge, pt. ratio, possibilities for overtime, etc). Then sometimes they ask why I chose their hospital- always go to the hospital's website & read it before your interview- then you'll know more about it & have something to say about it in your interview.
Well I am accepting a position there in the morning. Sounds very busy! 48 bed ED, 300 visits per day.
let us know how it goes...
I have worked at Cape Fear and the name pretty much says it all. They are the only hospital in the town so administration can get away with treating the staffs like crap. I worked on the Observation unit and I can honestly say this assignment was in the top 3 worst places I have ever worked and I have probably wolrked in over 30 hospitals.
I worked there 2 years ago so hopefully it is better now.
So...... How did your assignment at Cape Fear go? Give us an update!
i worked at cape fear in the ER for my last assignment. it's very, very busy and can be frustrating. they get everything, including a lot of good trauma, because they are the only hospital in the area. but i liked it overall. i loved the staff and was there with a lot of other travelers. they were really flexible with my schedule. i would definantly go back and work there.
There is a review of the hospital on the review forum.
Like swizzle said very busy er, staff is great, Trish who does the interviewing and schedule is awesome, puts time in in the er helping out. it is the only er in town so extremely busy and lots of overtime if you want it.
