Make sure that the patient has been taking there medicine on the schedule that the doctor has written it for. How is the patients hygiene. What does the family think about the patients progress(If the patient lives with family).
I need some info on doing psych nursing visits for a home health agency. What exactly would be involved? I have been a psych nurse for over three years in an outpatient setting. I am eligible to sit for the ANCC psych cert exam, just haven't done it yet. PLease can someone help me?

Hi! I use to work for a home health agency as a per diem psych nurse and it really depends on why you've been asked to see this patient in their home. Is it to draw a lithium level? Have you been asked to check on the patients medication compliance or reaction to medications? Aside from these types of specific scenarios, I would always do a physical as well as mental status assessment and include input from family members as well. Your background in a community mental health center is an asset!
you do not need to be certified through the ANCC> you have to be credentialed throught Palmetto GBA, who does it for home health. Based on what you said you have the experience so the agency would assist you with that credentialing because they couldn't bill for your visit if you were not credentialed.
