I\'ve been screwed and not kissed

I need some advice--

I signed a contract with an agency and negotiated specifics in the contract. I was assured by the agency that the hospital had agreed to all the stipulations so I traveled over 3500 miles and prepared myself for work. I attended orientation and went to the floor where I discovered that my manager had no idea of the stipulations that I thought were agree to. The manager called me a liar and wanted prooof of what I said. Of course, the agency said that would take care of it and admitted that they, (the agency) had dropped the ball and not sent the stipulations for approval. The hospital refused to accept the contract I had signed and I was not in a position to negotiate at this late date. Now I am jobless and out my airfare. I had the option to renew the contract where I was and wanted to be "closer to home". What should I do? I feel totally abandoned by my company!!!!

As for that company, they did "drop the ball" to say the least, and they should make it up to you. We can go into that when we talk. Give me a call.

That happened to me too, not too long ago. Unfortunately there wasn't much recourse I had against the company that screwed me, but I called Charles at Ultimate Nurse and he was able to find me another (even better gig) fairly quickly... You should give him a call, and just see if he can help you out too. His number is 580-237-0660.

I'm so very glad that I didn't travel over 3,000 miles with Access Nurses. I was about to but they dropped the ball with a facility in California (I was travelling from Ohio). After that I just did not trust them.
I'm in California now with RNDemand out of Texas and I am VERY happy.

Having been a traveler for 8 years out of the 11 I have been a nurse, let me give you some advice, REMEMBER....IF IT IS NOT WRITTEN IT ISN'T DONE.
Make sure your contract has all the particulars in it, if you want or need to go home during your contract...make sure it states it. If you have to have a certain shift make sure it states it. You can blame the recruiter but in the end if you did'nt make sure what you wanted was listed in the contract you signed you are ultimately responsible for the contract and can be sued for it legally. upside is you can get what you want if you just make sure it is written, the facility is bound by the contract also.
