When I worked ER we used vapor-rub under and some times(I mean every day) in our noses. It is the best smell when dud comes in that has not bathed for 2 years and when he takes of his socks they stand up. Boy oh boy Vicks smells so good at that time.

In my area they not only remove the shoes but the underware too after the no bath for 2 years...when they are and the support person also has the shoes off. I always say soap is cheap...We had one lady that used to come in twice a week, when she came in to have her baby a co-worker told her she had to take a shower first as it would make her veins stand out better to start the IV....she didn't use the soap so then she was dirty and wet...like a dog in the rain smell.

Vick's is very harmful when applied beneath the nostrils. The strong mint odor kills the olfactory receptors.

I heard there is something new called OdorScreen for this purpose. I haven't tried it yet.
