This is the first time I've been on your forum and my first message.
I would appreciate some advice about returning to nursing. After 15 years away from the field, I decided to go back to the field. Reason? Changes on the home front.
:)
I just completed a state approved RN refresher course and sent my resumes to local hospitals and home health agencies. It's been ~ a week and I've only heard from agencies asking if I want to move to New Mexico.(I do not want to leave my state.)
Any suggestions about how I should go about my job search? I graduated from nursing school in 1973.
Thank you.

Welcome, shadow! Glad to meet you.

You didn't say, but where abouts are you from? Have you specified that you don't really want to travel too far?

I live in New Jersey and I told the agencies that I did not want to travel.
However I was a little surprised that none of the local hospitals, clinics and home care agencies responded to my resumes. Since then, I accepted a position at a long term care facilty. I'm excited about getting back into nursing - also about finally making some money.
