Will Travel Companies hire RNs with felony for diverting, 10 years ago

Can an RN with a Felony conviction for shoplifting in 1976, get a job? What states will forgive this offense and grant a license? Who would hire an RN with a Felony on their record, even if it was many years ago?

It truly depends on the state all states are different CA is a tough state and even 10 years ago proves a problem. It is your job as a potential travel to call into the state board and see how much of a tough time. Many states have been more open. Those that take live scan are hard! Kim

The biggest hurdle will be the company policy. A majority of staffing firms and hospitals will not consider a candidate that has a felony charge on their background. States will regulate the amount of time you can look back (10 years vs. 7 years).

There are a number of companies that perform background checks. The company that I'm aware will run a personal background check is ChoicePoint Inc at choicetrust.com. (Pre-employment self-check from ChoiceTrust starting at $24.95 for national criminal file from some courts, or $49.95 for search that includes employment or education verification.)
