Director of Nurses, Recruitment & Retention: Associated Health Professionals, Inc


Associated Health Professionals, Inc (AHP), a 30 year old, highly respected Staffing Company in Southern California is searching for a Director of Nursing and Recruitment and Retention Manager. AHP is an entrepreneurial, dynamic and comprehensive medical staffing firm that specializes in the placement of per diem and traveling nurses and allied health personnel.

The Director of Nursing (DON) will oversee the sourcing, screening, qualifications and placement of AHP healthcare personnel to work in all AHP’s client facilities, as well as coordinating with recruitment personnel to enhance AHP’s presence in both the traveling and temporary nurse segments of the healthcare industry. Additionally, the DON will address all clinical issues and practices from the AHP corporate office, as well as consult on professional nursing matters in the day to day management of AHP’s staffing of acute care Hospitals. The DON will provide leadership, direction, coaching and development opportunities for the recruitment staff and staffing coordinators.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing and a current RN License, preferably in California
• Minimum of 3 years Clinical Experience in an acute hospital environment
• 3+ years of experience in day-to-day management in a Temporary/Supplemental and/or Traveling Healthcare Staffing Company
• Excellent communication skills including verbal, written and listening skills
• Self-starting and energetic leader who has the ability to elicit respect and trust of staff, employees and hospitals and who is comfortable in a culture where management and change happen by collaboration
• A proven track record of exceeding goals, a bottom-line orientation and constant desire to drive aggressive deadlines.
• Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel & Access

RESPONSIBILITES

Recruitment - Oversee all recruitment and retention of medical personnel, as well as setting criteria for employment, reviewing and updating recruitment tools such as competency examinations and skills inventories. Evaluation of references, licenses, designations and enforcing strict hiring guidelines, as well as determining clinical competency.

Client Development – Utilize extensive network of contacts to extend and enhance AHP’s presence in both the temporary and traveling nurse marketplace. Proactively maintain and manage relationships with existing AHP client facilities to anticipate staffing needs and provide solutions for any matters in need of resolving. Interface with recruiting staff and AHP’s client facilities to ensure client staffing requirements are fully implemented and serviced.

Accreditation – Oversee and supervise consultants and support staff during AHP’s process in becoming JCAHO certified.

Orientation Program – Conducts orientation after newly hired employee’s completion of competency testing and in-service modules, including all rules and regulations regarding scheduling, confirmation of shifts and client expectations. Provide feedback for updating AHP’s Employee Handbook as needed.

Personnel Development – Reviews all problems and complaints from AHP’s client facilities, and proactively pursues all conflict resolution. Communicate with client facilities regarding all clinical matters and nurse related issues, including all employee counseling, problem handling, preventative measures and all follow up actions. Hire and supervise internal staff, and provide motivational and developmental leadership.

Contract Requirements – Review and add any new criteria as required by client facilities’ contracts. Additionally, update and add in-service modules to meet JCAHO, OSHA and HIPPA requirements.

Quality Improvement – Maintain existing and establish new quality assurance processes and standards and insure requirements are met. Have a track record of quickly translating hospital customers’ needs into business requirements
