Well, I am considering OH RN lic. what problems might I encounter?
Yes, I am currently dealing with the Ohio Board of Nursing and its not been fun in the least bit. Many hoops to jump through and rules to abide by and all for just failing a drug test. They threw the book at me then caught it on fire along with me. lol
It's frustrating to see the path the Ohio Board appears to be taking with nurses dealing with substance abuse and chemical dependence. The Ohio Nurses Association was the organization that challenged nursing to change the way this disease is managed in the nursing profession way back in 1980. Today they aren't involved with recovering nurses in any way. I wish there was a silver bullet that would remove the stigma associated with this disease. That won't happen until more recovering nurses speak out (and why would they knowing the judgment that will be leveled against them). It's a vicious cycle that never seems to end. Nurses are supposed to care for patients regardless of the disease process or their status in life. It's a shame so many aren't willing to do the same for their own colleagues afflicted with a devastating disease.
