i have never done travel nursing, and am interested....

i was wandering...do travel nursing companies ever do part-time contracts with hospitals? i would like to get paid good and work less....

or do travel nurses always have to work full-time (32-40hrs/wk) ??????

Hospitals are hiring travelers because they are short-staffed, so most travel contracts are for full-time hours (36-48 hours/wk). I have never seen a part-time travel contract. You could work per diem for an agency part-time, but probably not as a traveler.

I would also love to travel nurse part time. I've often thought about calling some travel agencys to see if anyone offers this.
Bet they would get a lot of interested nurses if they did.

I think you'd have better luck doing this as a per diem agency nurse. I don't think you're going to find any travel contracts for less than 36 hours/week.

when researching other agencies, i have seen a few contract that were for like 24 hours a week. but, it was a very few, and all of them were pretty lousy contracts. I do just 36 a week, and get pressured pretty regularly to do an extra shift, by the hospitals and my agency. Don't get me wrong, my agency is great, but they encourage you to work more hours because that means they make more money with less investment on their part.

I've seen one contract offering 3 8 hr shifts out 100's of other offers. Companies can't make a decent enough profit if you are not working fulltime with the other associated expenses.

But it never hurts to ask.

Brainstorming here...you may be able to convert a per diem job to a Travel Contract and work part time. Also as a seasonal nurse employee or independent contractor/subcontractor.

Let us know if you have any success.
