Use of placebos is up

I think this article is pretty cool and useful. Doctors say placebo use common - Yahoo! News
Do NOT miss the part where it says doctors may be recognizing the body's natural ability to 'heal itself'.

I got an order once, to digitaly inspect a patient whom, it was suspected was obsessed with getting suppositories. If nothing was found upon digital inspection no suppos was to be given. after inspecting said patient I was charting that nothing was found and said patient had an "accident" in the bed requiring a total bed change and a trip through the shower to clean up the patient. Did I mention that I ONLY INSPECTED?

According to this story, more internists have prescribed placebos lately. Internists Say They Prescribe Placebos On Occasion

I do remember giving a resident a placebo quite a few times; was ordered.....
