Try AORN recommended standards and practices. Also, Alexander's has a book of care of the patient in the o.r.
Does anyone have a list of policies written for the standards of care for surgery patients. For instance Lap chole patient, appendectomy patient, etc. If anyone one has any input please let me know. tforbis@lapazhospital.org

what do you mean by standards of care? I know I always have difficulty finding specifics on pathways and expectations for how a procedure is to be done. We have a number of docs that say they're doing a certain procedure, but when I watch, I'm always confused because I thought it was done differently or with more detail. I can never find a governing source that says when a procedure is done, it's to be done in a specific method. Apparently our world has difficulty with this question as well. That's why when people end up in court, the attorneys depend upon the testimony of other healthcare providers. No one seems to go to pathways or the master plan on operations. Sorry, this wasn't much help.
Hello.
Base on surgeries we have different cares.
General surgeries has common cares but in special surgeries such as orthopedics , spine & etc the cares are different.
as torah1rn said it is difficult to care in our blind ways.
but you can see these:
Operating Room Clinical Guidelines
Operating Room Nurses Policies - Google Search

you are right, every nurse must know the way of care in good and right way.
thanks
