This is my first travel assignment and I had a phone interview today..what is the typical wait time to hear back whether a hospital is going to chose you or not? My interview was early this morning and I haven't heard anything..is that a bad sign??

Some places will let you know right away, but some will take a few days, especially if they are interviewing multiple candidates. If you haven't heard anything in a few days, I'd have your recruiter get in touch with them to see if they've made a decision yet.
How much do they weigh on how well you answer the interview questions? They never contacted my recruiter to tell her they wanted to interview me..so I was suddenly woken up this morning with an early phone call of them wanting to interview me and I was totally unprepared! I was half asleep and was not on top of answering the questions. It was the worst interview I've ever done!! So..what are my chances? :)
Well, It depends on how badly you answered the questions.... In the future, if someone calls and wakes you up (this happens a lot when you work nights!), ask if you can call them back in 10 minutes. This will give you a chance to wake up more so you can be completely aware of what's coming out of your mouth!
I got the job so I obviously didn't do as bad as I thought!
