    Exclamation A few questions...

    Hi! I'm new!

okay... so I'm interested in becoming an LVN and I have a couple of questions.

    1. Does anyone know how strict California is with the background check?

Last March I got in a car accident with a wall... yes a wall... and I was drunk. I didn't get arrested. They detained me until one of my friends came to pick me up. Luckily I have asthma! That's why they couldn't take me to jail for the night. I got a DUI, but I hired a lawyer and he got everything dismissed, but my license still got suspended in July. So the Sunday before my license was suspended, I got a speeding ticket... which I'm gonna go to traffic school for, once I get my license back. The only thing that will still be on my record, will be my suspended license... So will that be okay? Will I still be eligible to become an LVN in California?

    2. Is there a difference between LVN and LPN?

    3. What should I study before I go into Nursing School? Should I read over the NCLEX Test Prep books to get a feel for what I'm about to learn? What do you guys recommend?

    THANKS!!!! :star:

    Re: A few questions...

I don't think it would be a problem, since the charges were dropped, but check with the CA board of nursing before you begin school to double check.

LPN & LVN are the same thing- some areas of the country use LPN, others use LVN- it all depends on your geography.

I don't think studying for NCLEX before you even begin school is necessary- most of it will not make much sense to you anyways because you haven't learned it yet.
