    \"Milk of Amnesia\"

God how I love Propofol. I can never go back to MS 2-4mg IV q1h prn/Versed 1-2mg q1h prn. How many junkies did we create with that combo? And if the pressure drops . . . we can give them some Levophed.

My wife works in the ICU with loads of vent patients. She loves it. Works quickly and effectively, then wears off in 5-10 minutes.

We found out though, other hospitals didn't share the same sentiment.

Had her dad on a vent in a local community hospital who had in formulary but rarely used it due to it's cost.

You can find more info on it here:

Yea I know, our penny-pinching pharmacy feels the same way. But we get to use it anyway. At least for a couple of days. Then the pharmacy supervisor shows up and starts auditing charts and asking if we could swith them over to ativan or versed drips.
