Hello...This is my first post. I am new to this website. I found it interesting reading other posts, so I thought I would submit one. I have been an R.N. since I graduated from a three year diploma nursing school in Racine, WI, St. Luke's School of Nursing back in 1962. I graduated from St. Mary's School of Anesthesia in Wausau, WI in 1967 and have been practicing anesthesia full time for 41 years and am still working at a small critical access hospital in Newberry, MI as the sole CRNA. I have also studied hypnosis over the years and recently became recertified as a hypnotherapist a couple of years ago. I have been practicing hypnosis on a part time basis since 1977 and I have an office in my home where I see individual clients, but I also work with groups and write and record my own hypnosis scripts for a wide variety of things, such as weight control, smoking cessation, stress relief, better sleep, sports improvement and I work with both adults and children. When I retire from anesthesia in 2-3 years, I plan on practicing hypnosis full time. It is constantly evolving and I really like doing it and am getting pretty good at it. I live on a 4000 acre walleye lake in Curtis, MI up in the "U.P." and I like to fish, play and listen to music, write poetry and song lyrics, play chess, do scrollsawing, and enjoy the wonder and beauty of "God's Country". During our beautiful winters, we like to get out and cross country ski, snowshoe, and ice fish. I enjoy all of the wonders of the computer and enjoy sending and receiving e-mail from friends and family. I started out doing psych nursing after I graduated at Winnebago State Hospital in Oshkosh, WI, and worked all areas of St. Luke's and St. Mary's Hospitals in Racine, eventually working my way up to night supervisor before going into anesthesia school. I always liked nursing, but as a young man with a new family, I needed a little more income which nurse anesthesia provided. Nursing has been very good to me and I have always been very proud to be a male nurse, even tho years ago when used to get teased until our male friends realized that we had access to a lot of girls, and that changed things...lol. It has been a wonderful profession and I have one of my aunts to thank for getting me into nursing school when at the time all I wanted to do was join the navy and see the world...what a laugh......nursing has taught me so much about life, and those three years of nursing school were probably some of the best years of my life, and I look back on them fondly. I always look forward to our nursing school reunions and am amazed at how good our class still looks after all these years. Once a nurse, always a nurse.:)
Hey, rayj! Welcome to the site! So you're a 'Yooper', eh? I've been there with 'the other half', and the area is awesome, from Little Bay De Noc to the Soo. (There's an inside joke about Saulte Ste. Marie and one of my old residents.....)
FYI, we have a Holistic Nursing Forum--if you have any good links about Hypnosis, feel free to post them.
Hope you stop by often.....
