Cross Country travel Corps

Greetings. I am not a nurse but a respiratory therapist. I came to this site when I saw a question reagrding CCTC as a place to work. I have worked for two other travel agencies with whom I was pleased. My first problem with CCTC arose when a doctor recommended surgery for an old wound. I had insurance with CCTC so I figured 'no sweat'. Well, it turns out that to have surgery I would have to cancel my contract, and if I do that they explained I no longer had coverage? How is that for a Catch 22? Of course if I were continuing with another assignment, then the insurance would apply. But in respiratory there are far fewer travel assignments than in nursing, so guaranteeing me a new assignment is not guaranteed.
There is a second problem too. My contract states that I must comlete all hours or I don't get the completion bonus. However I have lost hours due to the hospital not giving me all the hours, and they can charge me rent on the apartment provided as well. I am still waiting for a resolution on that one. I know of other companies that would not allow this unless the employee 'wouldn't' work of his or her own volition.
Any thought on this?

With most companies, if the hospital cancels your shifts, you cannot be held financially responsible for housing. And with many companies, your hours are guaranteed, so the hospital has to pay you for your contracted hours even if they call you off....
