i currently hold a lpn license in indiana...my husband travels for work and we are going to be joining him on the road after christmas...i noticed that texas, arkansas and idaho all have the pact where u can work in those states with just one license...but i dont want to give up my indiana license either, not sure what i am supposed to do. eventually we will be settling in idaho so i thought i would get that license and then use it to practice in texas or arkansas since he will be working at least thru may in texarkana...can i do that?? i have sent emails to the boards of nursing in these areas and cant get a reply. ugh...its sooooo frustrating:) can anyone give me an idea where to start with this??

Hi, Jill! Thanks for the question. My advice would be: First, hold on to the Indiana license. Put it on inactive when it comes due.

If you will be settling in Idaho, then yes, use that license. At least obtain the paperwork to start the ball rolling.

Never send e-mail - call. By the time I have license in hand I usually know a couple people at the board by name - they tend to be rather nice people. Idaho, in particular, is a small operation. However, you can also work as a nurse here (in Idaho) pending approval of your license. Of course, you may have resolved all this in the last two months!
