Some of my most valued coworkers are savvy C/LNAs. You're right that they are worth their weight in gold.
Even us 'old timers' need to remember this: Listen to all advice. There are CNAs who will know more about how to handle pts during baths, ADLs, etc., than you do. Yes, there are some who are just 'there', but you'll know the ones who are on the ball. And if these CNA's tell you they 'have a funny feeling' about someone...LISTEN!
Oh, and if the patient is saying they are seeing their deceased loved ones......odds are, they're going to go soon.

Yup...That's what we need as novice...we need to listen to those who got the experience because a lot of things can never be learned inside the classroom
But you have to find good mentors not those nurses that eat their young.

And you will know the good nurses, or soon learn! One of my former teachers continues to be a mentor. Heck, I even 'adopted' her as a family member. That tells ya something.
