    Florida Hospitals offer nursing scholarships

Sounds pretty good: Hospitals offers nursing scholarships - Orlando Business Journal:

The Central Florida Health Alliance and Lake-Sumter Community College have partnered to provide full scholarships for nursing students who agree to work for the health system for two years after graduation.

The Central Florida Health Alliance Foundation has agreed to triple its financial support of scholarships to fund the training of nurses. For the current 2008-09 academic year, the fund will provide 24 scholarships, covering four semesters of study for each Alliance scholar. The agreement will renew automatically for subsequent years.

The hospital system will also continue providing clinical nursing experience opportunities for students at Leesburg Regional Medical Center and The Villages Regional Hospital.

Darlene Stone, senior vice president of human resources for the health system, said open nursing positions average about 4 percent, which is below state and national averages. The new scholar program will help the organization maintain strong staffing levels and position for the future, she says.

The Central Florida Health Alliance is a nonprofit healthcare system that includes the 309-bed Leesburg Regional Medical Center and the 198-bed The Villages Regional Hospital.

Anyone else have something like this?

Smile Re: Florida Hospitals offer nursing scholarships

Our hospital, (Florida Hospital) actually offers completely waived tuiton, books, and fees for its working RN's who are ready to get their BSN online at our college.

To be eligible, nurses must work a minimum of 1,000 hours a year at FH in a clinical setting and be referred by their nurse manager. To recieve full tuition, you must also complete the degree in 7 years and continue working there for 2 years after completion.

Here's the FH site with more info:

    And here's the program info:
