Hey everyone,

Does anyone have input on travel nursing at Main Methodist or Northeast Methodist hospital in San Antonio? I found a couple of reviews for Main, but very little on NE, and the latter is the facility I am more interested in.

Any info you have would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

I signed on with TravelMax. They have a lot of openings in SA right now, and you can view the postings on their website. (TravelMax Professionals <-- click here to go to their job search)

I found the following out from another traveler, Rebel, who has completed travel assignments in SA:

"Travel nurses recently have been cancelled at Methodist. Very low census and budget concerns. Methodist is an HCA hospital and if you go to any one you can be floated anywhere within 25 miles for part or all of the day .
I have only worked Childrens Methodist in the University area. I like Methodist, but HCA has some strange ways and you have to remember you can be cancelled or your entire contract cancelled at any time."

I plan on asking about these issues during any interviews with SA hospitals. I'll let you know what I find out!

Oh cool! Is she also a member on this site? Do you think she would mind if I contacted her with some questions about her experience there?

Stay away form the Methodist hospitals in San Antonio. Just finished an assignment and they use their travelers with total disregard. We waer floated from our assigned unit - one to two shifts a week and also frequently floated - midshift. Just pulled away to another unit without regard to the patients you already had.

They occasionally floated us to another facility - yes, I believe there were a total of five facilities across town and they could ( and would) pull a nurse to any of those at their discretion.

I would never work for the Methodist system again. ANd I would stay away from the HCA staffing agency - All About Staffing. The agency arbitarily held back my completion bonus that I was contracted to receive.

STAY AWAY FROM ANY HCA HOSPITAL, ESPECIALLY IN THE SOUTH. THEY WILL OVER LOAD YOU, RISK YOUR LICENSE AND BURN YOU AT THE STAKE IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG. COVER YOUR BOTTOM!!! CHART, CHART EVERYTHING BECAUSE THEY WILL TRY TO PIN ANYTHING THAT GOES WRONG, ON YOU...EVEN IF IT'S NOT YOUR PATIENT!!! SERIOUSLY, THINK VERY LONG AND HARD BEFORE WORKING HCA. THEY ARE TERRIBLE. I'VE HEARD NOTHING GOOD AND HAVE MY OWN HORROR STORY TO TELL.

I am currently on assignment at an HCA facility in FL, and other than one bitc*y charge nurse (who is no longer a charge nurse there anymore), I haven't had any problems.
