I've had the first half of my nick-name(pronounced OH-RY-UN) sence highschool Do you know how popular the name Charles was at the end of the 60's and into the 70's? Well the fact that we had I think 25in just my graduating class alone and with 4 grades, you do the math. In a small town school with 1200 students and every twelfth student named Charles you run out of variations EX::: Chas, Charlie, Chuck, Chase, Big-C, Little-c ........... It gets kind of confusing. So to tell each other apart in conversation other than using last names we often chose or were given names that denotet our personalities, I was a big hunter and fisherman so hence I got branded (after an astronamy lesson) with "Orion the Hunter" It stuck and it kind of grew on me. when I went in the service ---same problem, most went by Last names but as friendships grow; I got BRANDED again this time because I could swim like a Seal. Then a guy I went to Highschool with gets transfered to my unit and it got a little confusing again but some of the guys streightened things out and just combined the two and it stuck. Such has been my life. By the way my wife calles me Chuck, but at work I go by Charlie. Guess I just live a complicated life.:nurse-monkey:

cassioo Dec 27, 2008, 11:35 PM
I stole it from my husband :) When we switched servers in 1996 he was cassio so I added an o and took it because I had e-mail coming in...he got the cassio from Shakespear's Othello. He had the cassio when we met I couldn't figure out why he'd picked the name of a calculator.

What? Nothing about being a traveler? :nurse-rofl: :google-nurse:
AmandaWIRN Dec 28, 2008, 8:32 AM
Well, I wasn't a traveler when I picked the name, and I probably won't be in a couple of years... (but then I won't be living in WI either...)
MtGypsy Jan 3, 2009, 8:41 PM
I picked "MtGypsy" cuz I'm like a gypsy, I have a wandering spirit. My family always told me I was a gypsy (never staying long enough for roots). I lived in Montana which is where I became MtGypsy. I try always to live on a mountain with trees, so now Its MtGypsy. Of course I have also lived in NJ, KY, NC, PA, KS. Now I live in TN and do travel nursing .....I have the best of both worlds.

When I was transferred to Guam I didn't have my car at the time shipped over. I planned on buying something cheap on island to get around in. So I ended up getting a total piece of crap 1990 S-10 Blazer. Lol, I remember thinking it was so cool because it was my first 4x4. Anyway, that thing broke down everytime I was about to have a day off. That meant that I used my entire day off figuring out what was wrong with it and fixing it. I was talking with one of the guys I worked with about how unreliable my Blazer was. He laughed and said "piece by piece you'll have a brand new Blazer by the time you leave this place!" I've kept the name because that theme has followed ever since. Most of the stuff I have (vehicles, house, etc) are in various states of repair since I'm always waiting on parts, waiting to be able to afford parts, getting motivated to actually do some work. It's became a lifestyle for me!

Enviro = Environmental - I am not a tree hugger but I am concerned about the environment

cbr = standard nomencleture (sp?) for a series of race bikes made by Honda

My name comes from a phrase they say a lot in AA/NA meeting as in

"Hi I'm (-------) and I'm a happy grateful alcoholic! I used to want to throw something at those folks - but as I progressed in my recovery I became HPPYGR8ful too.

Peace and Namaste
