If you're concerned with pay rates, you better read the post on Congress' Plan to end the nursing crisis -- by flooding the market with foreign nurses, and driving pay rates down.

I live in Australia and we too have lots of international nurses.I am considered to be an "International Nurse" since I am from the states. My husband is Australian so we relocated back to Australia several years ago. Most Australian Nurses are not convinced they/we drive down pay rates however their poor English skills worries me in regards to patient safety. Since I haven't worked in a hospital in the states since 2006 I am not sure how things have changed at my old hospital. I do know back then there were relatively few foreign nurses and most came from the UK, Canada, or Australia.

    1. NC
    2. Triad
    3. RN-NICU
    4. 25/hr
    5. I don't want to put our hospital on blast but lets just say its one of the main hospitals in the area. We didn't get any pay raise for 2009, no bonuses, and a crappy yearly 'gift' - too ashamed to admit what it was. lets just say it came out of a vending machine... LOL

I am sooo close to leaving! And I will be checking this post for all the other options out there! Any recommendations are highly welcomed!

At any rate I love that nurses in my area have started this movement called the Hip Nurse movement. It uses The Cutest Nurse T-Shirts to help get the message out and has a site to help connect burnt out and stressed out nurses!
