    In California you can collect disability while in alcohol recovery as addiction is considered a disease though more often the doctor who signs off on it will put a diagnosis of Major depression or anxiety disorder. This only happens in states that have State disability. Its much harder in states that utilize only SSDI as Social Security Disability will not pay on claims of depression that is alcohol and drug related unless you can prove that the addiction was caused by the underlying mental illness and not visa versa.

    I do not think another state would help with employment either. The problem is ten fold due to the economy, the over abundance of new nurses in the system, and I think their is a liability cost for hiring a nurse on probation.
