Thread: Tax question

    Tax question

Last year was my first year to travel. I have a home base so therefore my housing stipend should be tax free. However, when I view my W2 form, there is nothing showing other than taxable income. Am I missing something or should this be listed separately or maybe not at all? Any help is appreciated.

    Re: Tax question

I had a similar issue. Was in PA for half the year than moved to NV. When I got to NV even though they don't have state taxes when I tried to do my taxes on TurboTax it said I owed over $3,500. One of the other travellers referred me to their tax preparer (Travel Nurse CPA) and I ended up getting a refund of over $1,800! Well worth the $350 I spent to have my taxes done for me. - RNTP

    Re: Tax question

I had that same question when I got my W2 after working with RN Network last year. They also dont report my income from housing and my meal stipend on my W2 but just my taxable income. Its fine TN_Nurse, just make sure you get someone who knows how to handle travel nurses to do your taxes, the amount you can save in deductions can be huge.
