    Questions regarding travel nursing

If licensure for RN is in NY state, how are you able to be a travel nurse? Do you have to obtain a license in each state you apply for? Do any states accept NYS RN licensure? Will their be multiple NCLEXES in my future if I choose to do travel nursing?

If you want to work as a Travel RN in NY yes you will have apply for and get a NY License. No you don't have to take the NCLEX for each state. The NCLEX is a one time test you take to work as an RN in the U.S. .

You can use the NY RN License to work in other states in federal jobs for the most part (VA, Military, Indian Reservations) with some exceptions I've heard.

To work in non-federal jobs you would have to apply to that states or U.S. territory Board of Nursing.

There is a group of states called the Nurse Compact. If you are a resident of one of those states and you have a license in the same state you can practice in the other compact states with your resident/compact states license. Unfortunetly NY is not in the Nurse Compact.
