I work in a long term care facility. THere is another nurse there who has a family member there. This person is married to her mother. When I was working I could hear this nurse yelling at the resident. I was all the way down the hallway. (other nurse was also working and in uniform). I went into the room and she was shaking her finger at resident and resident was shaking his finger at her. I told nurse this may not be this best time for this conversation. She was of course upset and said why cant I talk to my family. I told her I could hear the arguement all the way down the hallway. Not sure but did I over step myself. I am concerned about this situation because this nurse is always making statments about him and charting behaviors that indicate he is more confused than he really is. What do you think? What would you have done? Honest answers please? Did I stick my nose where it did not belong?

I think you did the right thing. It sounds like her caring for this person constitutes a conflict of interest, and she should not be assigned to care for him again. I would report this to your supervisor.
