If so, what one(s)? Is it worth it?
Good question, 'Bird'!
I don't belong to any. Did come close to being inducted to Sigma, though, from what I understand.
ENA & I belong to STN as well. I feel they offer me information on topics that may & do impact my practice. Having said that I don't always agree with their view but I am still getiing more info than if I heard nothing at all.
I don't have money to be paying dues to any organization, especially when I'm not working.
Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society, ENA (CFRN), about to study for the CNRN, and in a year will be a part of the AANP if all goes well. I am also directly involved in several EMS organizations (NAEMT, Disaster Response Team, NREMT, etc).
When I was working on my associate's in nursing--I was in Phi Theta Kappa. I think the honor societies are definately worth it as they afford you new and exciting opportunities. For instance, when I was in Phi Theta Kappa, we got to travel to Plains, Georgia and sit in a Sunday school class taught by no other than former President of the United States Jimmy Carter.
Oop! Forgot to add that I am Phi Theta Kappa in another Health related field; also came close to Sigma.
2 former teachers used to belong, but they said I ain't missing anything.
I belonged to ENA... I had to drop my membership because I didnt feel it was worth the money.
