For anyone interested: Herzing University, Minneapolis Receives Board of Nursing Approval - Yahoo! News

On June 4, 2009, Herzing University received approval from the Minnesota Board of Nursing to begin a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program. This achievement is the culmination of years of preparation.

A new medical lab, extensive library holdings, and highly-credentialed nursing faculty and staff are just a few of the additions brought to campus to prepare for the program, which is scheduled to begin classes in September 2009.

Herzing's creation of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program reflects the rising shortage for bachelor-prepared registered nurses in Minnesota and across the U.S. The Herzing BSN will aid in filling that need by graduating nurses in a shorter amount of time than other BSN nursing schools in Minnesota, which Herzing Nursing Program Director, Dr. Jessica Hanzel, partly attributes to the program's unique approach to admissions. "Students are admitted into the program from the first day of class -- there's no waiting around for 2 or 3 years just to see if [the student] will even get accepted into the nursing program," she stated.

Another time-saving component is Herzing's year-round scheduling which allows for completion of the BSN in just 3 years. "By offering 3 semesters every school year, career-focused students can earn their degree in the shortest time possible," said Campus President, John Slama. "This gets them working in their desired career field and maximizing their earning potential ASAP."

The Herzing BSN program's innovative curriculum and class schedule are designed for students seeking a professional degree in a convenient format. Student applications are already being accepted.

Herzing University has a 50-year history in the Twin Cities and values its ever-growing relationship with the area's healthcare industry. Additional Herzing campuses located throughout the U.S. already offer associate degrees in nursing, so incorporating the Bachelor's in Nursing was the next natural step toward meeting the dynamic needs of the communities Herzing graduates serve.

Herzing University offers diploma, associate degree, and bachelor's degree programs in various healthcare fields in addition to an online MBA in Health Care Management. Academic programs in business, technology, design, and public safety are also highly regarded. Herzing University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association (www.ncahlc.org; 800.621.7440).
