Here is my son's request; "...I need some Gillette disposable razors and Degree extreme blast anti-perspirant deodorant. Some good coffee would be awesome as well and powder creamer."

Plus, I'm sure whatever else y'all can think of one might want/need while living in the desert he would greatly appreciate, too. I hope y'all don't mind? BTW, the US Post Office has flat rate priority mail boxes that when shipped your charged a flat rate, rather than by weight.

My son is the one on the right.

TIA! [Thanks in advance]

My hubby liked that sand-dragon whatever it is called shower gel from Axe and gatorade powder for the water bottles. I also sent him electrolyte powder to add to the water. You know the sweating and all.

Amanda, the only concern with sending food would be the weather (aka heat) and the summer months have passed.

He is much appreciative of any type of food and constantly ask for coffee. When I was in Iraq it was joy getting a care pkg no matter the contents. Needless to say, the chow while deployed is nothing to brag about.

Cat, my apologies but been real busy.

Ain't we all busy, though? An occasional Howdy in the Daily Thread would put me at ease. :) We've all gone through enough hell NOT to worry about each other, riiight?

I will get onto something for son soon, though. Things got a bit intense here, and I should drop him a line.

(I guess, I should have introduce myself ..)

Is there a specific brand of coffee? Does any of his friends want anything in the pic?

That's what I thought, thanks Cat. However, I don't know if Matt is around those other Soldiers on a daily basis. Guess I was surprised by the pic question.

Recently found out they will be extended, i.e. coming home later than originally planned. Same thing happened to me and he could use some support more than ever.

Original length 12 months. He has not mentioned the new timeline because either they have not been told or nobody knows for sure. He thought this might happen before he deployed.

Will do? sorry to read about the extension..

The reason that i asked about the other guys in the pic. I thought they might want something too..

Thanks for the USPS flat rate idea. I got my box and customs form. You can put anything in it for one rate, not based on weight! The packing begins.

Cary- Couple of questions...

Is your son's address still the same?

How do you think I should address the care package, so he knows that I know you, and am not just some whacko?

I was planning on sending some Starbucks coffee, powdered creamer, and some Christmas cookies when I get them made in the next few weeks. Any other requests that you know of? Is he allergic to anything? Is regular ground coffee OK, or does it need to be instant?

Thanks!

Amanda, Matt's APO is still the same. Simply place a note inside the box explaining how you know him via nursing website/me. I received care pkgs from people I did not know while deployed. Believe me, anyone that takes the time & effort to send a care pkg is no wacko. I have sent him Starbucks ground coffee before. I think he has a coffee maker.

Anything you send will be greatly appreciated. He is sensitive to latex, acquired when he was a scrub tech. Also, allergic to corn.

TIA!
