Hi. I have been working as a nurse for a little over a year in LTC, where CNAs are an invaluable resource. I was wondering if anyone out there had any ideas on inservices. I've come up with a few things, and have researched online. It is very important to me that the inservices I provide are not only informative, but interesting and, ideally, fun. Any ideas that any of you have would be utterly appreciated. My thanks in advance,
Velasa
I love that you are wanting to teach your aids. They are truely valuable. I think that although they may not do certain tasks that it would make them stronger to know what the nurse does and why. An inservice on vital signs, blood sugar testing, wound classification and care, trachs and many more. Knowledge is power and they can be taught much. You might even inspire some to go to nursing school. Maybe your facility can set up a scholarship for interested CNA's to return to school and to promise in return to work for the facility for several years.
