Shorter College will hold an open house for its new School of Nursing. 3-6 p.m. Aug. 25.

The facility is located in the Coosa Medical Group building on Riverbend Drive. During the open house, the public can tour the new school and meet faculty and staff.

Tours and refreshments will start at 3 p.m., followed by an invocation from Shorter College Board of Trustees Chairman Nelson Price at 4 p.m. An official administrative welcome and introduction of the nursing program will also be part of the open house agenda. Potential nurses will be able to meet with nursing school faculty for informal advisement from 4:30 until 5:30 p.m. Tours of the facility and refreshments will again be offered from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m.

“The grand opening marks a milestone in the progress of bringing a baccalaureate nursing program to Northwest Georgia,” said School of Nursing Dean Vanice Roberts.

“A strong component of the School of Nursing will be a Christian health care mission outreach to both the local communities and international population through a study abroad program planned in the curriculum,” she continued. “The educational experience of Shorter College School of Nursing graduates will prepare them to provide excellence in service, leadership and patient care, and exemplify the core Christian values of Shorter College.”
