It is not only icu nurses
floor nurses try to address issues before the pt even get to icu.
The feeling of "if only" or "what more can i say or do" is madding.
It makes you think that you are no longer doning a "good job". This is when you realy start to think what good am i doing or why bother.

I am just a nurse's aid (
certifiable but not
yet certified, certification test tomorrow!). But I have seen nurse's having moral problems in their job. One particular nurse confided with me that the ridiculous amount of paperwork prevents him from giving the residents enough care. This is especially true on the night shift with one nurse and two C.N.A.s per floor.
Government involvement in healthcare just piles on the paperwork. It even slows down the process of getting things to the lab for testing!
:nurse-soapbox: Government bureaucracy interferes with taking care of people!
