    I totally agree....
As a nurse for 20 years...the uniforn catalogs leave much to be desired for the Male RN....I beleive it is still 2 pages...mostly lab coats, of scrubs that look like something from 1960......We need to move forward....
As far as panties...Look We have been working hard to clean up the image of the male nurse....I continually get the questions of gender slurring due to my job, and my chosen profession....The looks and coments continue....
We do not need to spend as much time as we have on crackpot idea's and suggestions as in previous posts......
my answer... scrubs and a tee shirt...I am here to take care of patients...not win a beauty contest......

But I have to say I'd rather see a man in unisex scrub pants and a plain t-shirt to see a woman in a lowwww cut tank top with her c-section scars popping in between her short shirt and her rolled down scrub pants, that just so happens to reveal her THONG strings. If you want to talk about uniform reform work on the women first. I will be the first to admit if you wear scrubs they should look clean and neat, a good ironing once in a while will keep good seams, and yes I do wear TED socks (to the knee only) but it will be a cold day in **** before I wear womens underwear. Also If anyone is that concerned over a y shape seam... you're a perv. I also agree that the uniform companies are very female oriented. The only company that I know of that makes uniforms just for men is Landau and I am not that impressed, the pants never stay up and the jacket cuffs make great tuniquets. Just a thought any body got some ideas about starting their own uniform company for guys, I'll be your first customer. jslater@wyan.org

    Ugh! Already read this article.

I actually saw and read this article about a year ago. I was so angry that I emailed the link on the website with an angry reply. I was informed through their response to the email that the story was actually a joke. The editor said not to take it seriously, because it was apparently a humor article that was published as part of a transvestite website.

Needless to say, my face turned a little red.

Ashamed to be part of this discussion group

What are the moderators thinking? This whole "male nurse in panties" thing is stupid, foolish, and should not even be associated with a nursing discussion group. It's really not even amusing. As I read the input to this site, it appears to be mostly immature teeny-boppers are participating. This is not a serious nursing discussion group--it's a forum for fools, and this fool is signing off.

Guilty as charged. I wear the athletic socks. I try to wear the whitest of my 'collection' to work. I work in psych therefore gold chains are out (can be used as a weapon against you and lead to death secondary to strangulation). The rest of my 'ensemble' includes boxer briefs of any color, ya know, whatever I'm feeling that day, and I actually wear biking shorts over those only because I have a bit of SI instability and it keeps my lower back from aching. The biking shorts keep the 'package' from showing also, unless you're really looking for something, and I usually wear a darker tone of scrubs therefore my undies can't be detected for color. Although I don't spend a whole lot of time co ordinating my outfit prior to going to work, if it's not going to be a hot night, I wear a black T shirt (shudder) under my top, or perhaps something in a green or a blue (stated in his best Christopher Lowell dialect) to bring out my eyes( bbbwwaaaaahhhhh),just depends what color scrubs I'm wearing. After reading this I'll have to observe my co-workers a little more carefully to see if they are laughing at me. Not that I'll change but, just to know. On the plus side, my shoes are always in good shape and I"m clean shaven. I have a fu man chu or whatever around my mouth but I keep it shaved real close (nothing narc or '70s porn star-looking) and my hair is short enough to where it's never out of place. My previous employers have complimented my appearance in the past during periodic evaluations so, until that changes I'm really not going to worry about primping and co ordinating and surely not panty hose (nevva dat).
I hated to go to weddings because the old grandmas use to poke me in the side and say "you're next, you're next", in retaliation I started doing the same thing to them at funerals

Well since you have signed off and won't be reading this I guess it's too late to tell you to chill out. The whole thread was a goof and if I remember, it was started by one of the moderators. If you want to have a discussion about something serious, why don't you start a thread yourself? I know that I will be anxious to contribute.

I enjoyed this post! Your signature is hilarious too! You nearly made me wet myself and I shot coke (the cola) out my nose.

My scrubs have shrunk and I've gotten bigger. I haven't worked as a nurse in several months but the last few times I notice the "package" was needing a bit of room in the front. Went out and bought some bigger, darker scrubs the next day. My scrubs had been tight on me for a whie but it wasn't a big deal until I looked in the mirror.

I can't believe you really wear biker shorts over boxers. That's nuts! It seems to me it would be super uncomfortable. If you're going to do that, and need the support, but an athletic girdle. NO, not THAT kind of girdle. Like one you wore in sports so you didn't have to wear a jock or whatever..., and ditch the boxers. I would think that would be a lot more comfortable.

    Old School-

I sent that person a Private Message but they probably didn't get it. It must not have been the first offensive post to them because they have quite a few posts already, so I don't know.

I'm not going to delete this thread when it's basically A JOKE and it's got this site more traffic, more views, and more responses than ALL the other ones put together.

Of course, it still gets search engine traffic for "men in panties" searches and crap like that, but as soon as they realize it isn't the "SMUT" they were looking for they leave.

As a male in this profession for 27.5 years,I can't believe that we are still giving this issue ANY legs with the answering posts. Am I the only one that clicked on the web address or realized that the original author is from Hampstead....UK. The author's website is a "FETISH" website dealing with the forced Feminization of Men. There nuff said ya'll....:frustrated:

Well Shortbus, like you said, this thread gets the site a lot of traffic. But why do you want that kind of traffic?? How is traffic generated from smut and porn searches going to benefit this website?

Now I understand that this thread was started as a joke and somehow it has lasted for several years, but it is in poor taste and it is degrading to men, therefore it has caused some bad feelings and annoyance on the board. Let's flip the coin here, how about we start a thread about a female nurse who is forced to degrade herself by submitting to her husband's desires and masculinize herself by wearing men's brief underwear to work, no bra, and embarass herself by admitting to the whole story in front of a patient? How long would that thread stay up? Would there be any objection from the female nurses that frequent this site? It would be an interesting sociological experiment to see the reactions to that posting.
