The current contract I am on is my issue. The new scheldule started today, my last day of work last week was before the new scheldule was posted, but I was not concerned about calling to check it becasue about a week and a half ago I spoke with the nurse manager about my schedule for this week, and she said that she was going to put me down to work tues, wed, and thurs night for this week. So, at about 10 minutes after seven I get a call from the house supervisor wanting to know where I am...WHAT? He told me I was on the scheldule for tonight and they wanted to know why I wasn't there...well, I'm not there becasue I'm out of town...I called the on call person for my agency and I'm going to call the nurse manager in the AM, but I'm worried about what is going to happen. They could call me a no-call no-show over this, but I REALLY didn't think to even check the scheldule becasue I thought I knew what I was working this week, so I thought I could just get a copy of the scheldule for the month tuesday night when I went in. I'm really scared about getting cancelled. Has anyone else ever had this happen?
Scheduling glitches can happen for a lot of different reasons. Staffing coordinators and nurses themselves do make mistakes. If it turns out you were on the schedule, admit you made a mistake and be done with it.
It happens enough that they will likely give you a second chance. If not, be more careful for your next assignment.
Hope it works out for you.
