Navy Nurse Corps deployment and working location..?

I'm a sophomore in high school and I want to apply for a scholarship next year, so I can join the Navy Nurse Corps. After I finish school, will I get to decide where I go? I know there are Naval medical centers, hospital ships, and clinics...can I choose where I work? I want to specialize in Pediatrics and it says I can do that...so would they send me somewhere to help with kids?

I am not in the military as of yet, but I do have some information that can help you. Most important is that you need a Bachelor's degree in nursing from a university before you can commission into the Navy Nurse Corps. Your other option is to enter a Navy ROTC program in college with the intent to enter into nursing school. My understanding regarding where you work in the navy is that you can request where you want to go. Sometimes, you will get to go to your #1 place, but it all depends on the overall need of the navy itself. At your age, I would highly recommend you contact a Navy ROTC program at a university you may be interested in attending.
