Working my weekend was so stressful. The director called the supervisor just to make sure I received instructions on a residents care. I had been following the care plan the whole time. The whole time I'm a new nurse and I'm wondering what to do about all these tylenol orders due to the recall. At times I feel so incompetent. I am a new grad in a profession where there is no true shortage, and also a previous STNA-CNA in the same facility. Residents always tell me I am a great nurse. I get attitude from the aides and no respect from other nurses. And no one has said anything about these meds that have been recalled. Well today is Monday maybe they will mention that today. I hope to have a better day. I do as much as I can. I only want to do what iv'e been called to do. Some people say I'm having it rough, because I was an aide there move on. Really in this economy, as a new grad.

Unless you know otherwise, I would expect that the supply of tylenol that you are drawing from came way before the lots that are currently on recall. I don't know whether I would be concerned or pleased that the director called the supervisor about that one situation. Either she is very interested that you are on the right path, or she is taking a hard look at your performance due to behind the scenes discussion about your performance, or she is particularly concerned about that particular resident at this time. If I were you, I would try to find out which it is so you know where to put your extra efforts. And realize that it can be rough to work in the same place where you were an aide because there are expectations already in place. You just have to work through that. Things should get better as time moves on.
