A few quick questions regarding travel...

I've been a nurse 3 and a half years now.

About a year and a half doing floor nursing, 6 months of step down ICU, and a year and a half doing ICU.

I'm waiting on my two-year mark for ICU (that'll be in August).

Anyway, recently brushed up the resume and have been thinking about starting travel in August or September. Right now, just been doing a lot of reading.

My main question is this: When should I start submitting my resume to companies and contacting agencies for assignments? Basically, when do I get the ball rolling?

A former traveler I work with said three months in advance is a good time to secure an assignment. He also said that about a month into an assignment, you want to think about where you'll be going next and get that set up.

Secondly, is there anything I need to do tax-wise? I know I have to declare a state of residency (which I have). There anything different I need to file for taxes?

That's all I can think of right now. If anyone has any additional resources or tips, I'd be most appreciative. Thanks!

Apply when you are really serious about traveling about 1 month ahead.
If you call 3 months ahead that is fine too that way recruiters will watch for jobs that you want.
Check the travel websites job boards just to keep track of available jobs.
Don't worry too much about the tax thing, taxes will be taken out for the states you work in and then tax time, the CPA will figure things out.
