    new to posts

    hello all,

    I am new to this, so please bear with me. I have been an LPN for 3 yrs. mostly in long term care. Just got treatment nurse job and is blowing my mind over all the diff. types of wound care. Any vet. treatment nurses out there with any tips? THANKS!!!!

    Wow brwthru, wound care is quite the specialty!!! I worked on a wound care unit for 1 1/2 years and treatments changed monthly. We had a wound care RN specialist and we were constantly trying out new products. I would suggest subscribing to a wound care journal for the latest info. Of course, I'm sure you are using whatever products your institution is stocking, but hopefully you are able to make suggestions. Many companies are more than willing to come out and give seminars and products to promote theirs -- they bring out a lot of good teaching materials with them. Good luck.     thanks rose, i might feel easier about this new job after i go to my wound care class next week, there are soooo many products and sooo many diff. descriptions hard to tell what's what!!!!
