I have alot to say on the matter. Allina made alot of money last year. I know things are changing with healthcare reform, but at the first negotiation meeting- one of the hospital admins looked at the union rep and said "it's not that we don't have the money, it's that we choose not to give it to the nurses"
This isn't about money. It's about safe staffing and not going back 30 years in the fight to be treated like professionals.
The health insurance they propose- I couldn't afford to take my own kids to the ER if I thought it was needed. Nurses who have given their career to the hospital- are possibly loosing a third of their pension. They want to float nurses without letting the nurse have a say- to dpts they are not trained or competant to work.
