Congrats! Rush University College of Nursing Professor Receives National Award

Newswise — The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) will give the Flame of Excellence Award to Ruth Kleinpell at the 2010 National Teaching Institute & Critical Care Exposition, Washington, D.C., May 15-20.

Kleinpell, PhD, RN-CS, FAAN, professor and Independence Foundation chair of nursing, directs the Center for Clinical Research and Scholarship, Rush University College of Nursing, Chicago, and serves as associate dean for research. She receives the award for sustained regional and national contributions to acute and critical care nursing.

Kleinpell edited “Outcome Assessment in Advanced Practice Nursing,” the 2009 Advanced Practice Nursing Book of the Year by the American Journal of Nursing. She belongs to the editorial boards of the American Journal of Critical Care, Critical Care Medicine, Journal of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and The Nurse Practitioner.

The first nurse to chair the strategic planning committee of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, Mount Prospect, Ill., she’s a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Institute of Medicine of Chicago and American College of Critical Care Medicine.
