Hi to everyone on the board,

I'm a new RN just checking this board out. My story is the same as most new RNs/bad economy + minimal experience = no job

Hi, Angelique! Nice to meet you.

No job, eh? Where about you located? We do have a Forum section devoted to jobs---they are not all Travel jobs. Perhaps you might find something there.

:60: Welcome to the site. Good luck finding something soon. Lots of people share your plight, so you are in good company. Don't give up.

Thanks everyone for the welcome.
I'll check the job forum as suggested. I'm in Florida, I know I just hit the market at a bad time. The hospitals here do need nurses but most can only take experienced RNs, the budgets are tight and the patient census is lower across the board because of the lack of tourists and snowbirds. I did get one offer and I never thought I would decline any offer but I did.

The offer was for pediatric home healthcare. The training would have been extremely minimal as in a few short days shadowing another RN. All the cases except one have g tubes (fine) but most of them are also vents (not fine) I asked about a vent class and they said I could take one (great) but the class would be online (huh?) and have nothing to do with teaching me more about the settings. I asked about RT, they are contracted through another company and were only available on call/no regular visits with the patients.
:yeahthat:

I thought about it for 24 hours and decided I was afraid that this would all go disastrously wrong so I called them and declined. This is the first time in my life I had a "nursing" interview. My career background was not healthcare. It's also the only time in my life I had a list of questions to ask the interviewer. I'm glad I didn't choke there I thought I would.

Off my :nurse-soapbox:now
