Concordia University is expanding its nursing program for freshman entering fall 2010 as the result of both job market demand for nurses and health care professionals, as well as increased demand by interested students.

Concordia will hold an information night for prospective freshmen nursing, exercise and sports science and pre-med students on Thursday, June 24, 6-7:30 p.m. at Concordia’s George R. White Library & Learning Center, Room 310, at 2800 NE Liberty St., in Portland, Ore. Applications for fall 2010 are due July 5.

“Clinical excellence, combined with compassion and care, are hallmarks of Concordia’s nursing program and part of our commitment to preparing leaders for the transformation of society,” said Donna Bachand, BSN, MS, PhD., Concordia’s interim nursing program director.

In addition to more than a dozen local clinical partners in Portland and Southwest Washington, Concordia nursing students and faculty also volunteer abroad and recently returned from volunteering in Mexico and Nicaragua.
