End of a long Holiday weekend - BBQ yesturday Tri-Tip and chicken with homemade rootbeer BBG sauce and fireworks - today just lazing around swimming in the new pool - watching tv - back at it tomorrow - I'm covering for another nurse so I have 10 homes to look after but that's ok as she will cover for me in August when I go on vacation. Hope you all had a safe happy 4th.

I worked the weekend and was supposed to work Monday, but my client was finally taken to the hospital and I found out three hours after my shift was due to start that the client was admitted. I couldn't get a straight answer out of the oncall staffing coordinator for my agency how long I was supposed to sit around holding my breath to see if I had to work. They reminded me I wouldn't get paid if I drove over to the house expecting to work and nobody was there, and I let him know that I already learned my lesson about that employer not paying show-up pay. I told him I had no intention of going to the home if there was any question about it. I just hope the patient gets taken care of, although I have my own opinions about what is going on and I think this trip to the hospital scenario is going to be a common occurrence. Now, I can pretty much guess I won't work Tuesday and I'm off on Wednesday and Thursday anyway. Another short paycheck. Oh, well.
